The secrets of the 72nd edition of La Vuelta were revealed in its official presentation last night and Azkar DACHSER Group has begun to organize its deployment as Official Logistics and main sponsor for the ninth consecutive year. The main developments this year include the departure from Nîmes in France and the passage of the round for Andorra, before starting its march through the Mediterranean until its closure in Madrid on 10 September.

DACHSER has promoted its Head of Contract Logistics, Alexander Tonn, to become the new Managing Director of European Logistics Germany. The 43-year old Tonn will take up his new position on January 1, 2017 to oversee business development of the 38 German branch offices in the European Logistics business line (overland transport and contract logistics for industrial goods). He will report to Michael Schilling, COO Road Logistics and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who will continue to be responsible for this position in addition to his duties until the end of the year.
Experienced logistics manager Jochen Müller (52) will soon be joining the DACHSER team. On January 1, 2018, he will take over from Thomas Reuter as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The transition period, during which Müller will work on developing projects, will start on October 1 of this year. Thomas Reuter will remain on the Executive Board in his role as head of Air & Sea Logistics through the transition period until he retires on December 31, 2017.
Bernhard Simon is appointed Chairman of the Azkar Board of Directors, thus continuing the company’s internationalization and integration into the global logistics provider DACHSER. Bernhard Simon succeeds José Antonio Orozco, who has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2013.

DACHSER reports strong, organic growth for fiscal year 2015. Consolidated revenue increased by 6.5 percent to EUR 5.64 billion. Shipments rose by 4.0 percent to 78.1 million, while tonnage increased by 5.2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons. Azkar DACHSER Group and Spanish Business Federation for Chemical Industry (FEIQUE) have signed a collaboration agreement whereby the company acquires the status of Business Partner of the Federation as a provider of logistics services to its member companies and associations.
With the main goal of optimizing the supply chain of companies in this industry, the logistics operator wants to convert the Iberian Peninsula in a strategic location for the chemical sector.
